Crayons Academy follows HighScope Curriculum and incorporates the latest research on infant, toddler, Preschool and Pre-K development. HighScope’s unique incorporation of the plan-do-review process, support in developing conflict resolution skills, and focus on adult scaffolding produces an early learning environment where all children can thrive.
Our curriculum is designed to guide milestone development and define learning experiences in this classroom. We address the specific needs of these active little learners and maintain a focus on five key developmental areas:
Social / Emotional Language
Develop an understanding of their own emotions and their relationships with others, such as family, friends and community members. Learn to interact with others and developing self-awareness. Effective communication abilities are strengthened using sounds, expressions, body language, and finally, oral and written language; responding to and understanding others.
Physical Development
Learn to control and coordinate large and small muscle movements; building an understanding of health and safety concepts.
Approaches to Learning
Developing independence through exploring the world around them, and building problem-solving abilities.
Cognitive Development
Developing an understanding of their world, as they learn to think critically and creatively.
